The Issues

Over the past 4 years there has been strong leadership both in council and staff who have worked collaboratively to solve the community's issues. I want to commend their focus and vigor to help Wheat Ridge grow sustainably and develop the framework that we will be following for the next decade. But now we need to do the work to connect the community between residents, businesses, and gathering places.

01

44th is our Backbone

Goal: Transform 44th Avenue into a dedicated pedestrian and bicycle corridor that bridges the city together.

City staff and council have invested in strengthening Wheat Ridge’s downtown along 38th Avenue. These efforts benefit the entire city, but for District 2, our backbone is 44th Avenue. If we want residents to fully engage with the city without relying on cars, we must create safer, more accessible corridors, starting with 44th.

While the Clear Creek Trail and Greenbelt connect western Wheat Ridge to the city’s center, the path becomes difficult after Anderson Park. Sidewalks along 44th are narrow, and there are no dedicated bike lanes. We need a continuous, safe corridor from Anderson Park to Sheridan, connecting key community assets like Happiness Gardens, Apel-Bacher Park, Hopper Hollow, and Randall Park. From there, branches can extend south to 38th, The Green, and the Lutheran Legacy Campus.

These connections are more than just infrastructure, they're about safety, equity, and accessibility. A reimagined 44th Avenue strengthens every part of our city.

02

Civic Responsibility

Goal: Make civic participation more accessible and empower more residents to get involved.

I’m running to reinvigorate civic engagement, especially in District 2, where the last two council races went uncontested. That’s not how a healthy democracy functions. When I saw another uncontested race this year, I knew it was time to step up and give our community a choice.

If elected, I will work with city staff to expand civic education and outreach so more residents feel empowered to participate and even run for office themselves. Local government should be approachable, not intimidating. Leadership should reflect the diversity and voices of our entire community.

03

Affordable Housing

Goal: Expand city-funded housing programs to help residents who grew up in Wheat Ridge stay in Wheat Ridge.

I’m proud the city adopted the Task Force recommendation to establish a Housing Fund, an essential first step toward tackling affordability. Currently, this fund receives about $400,000 annually from short-term rental revenues. With the current fund, the city partnered with Foothills Regional Housing to create affordable options like the Vance Apartments and The Ives.

I want to grow the Housing Fund and use it to launch a First-Time Homebuyer Assistance Program so more residents can choose Wheat Ridge as their forever home. Keeping people rooted here strengthens the fabric of our community.

04

Cost of Living

Goal: Make Wheat Ridge a place where people can live where they work and work where they live.

Cost of living goes beyond rent or mortgages. It’s also about transportation, food, healthcare, and access to meaningful employment. Right now, too many people who work in Wheat Ridge can’t afford to live here, and most of our residents can't afford work here.

I want to help build a self-sustaining local economy where neighbors can support each other, businesses thrive, and workers have real opportunities to live and grow in the same community they serve.

That means listening, understanding barriers, and investing in people, not just projects. A stronger, more affordable Wheat Ridge benefits everyone.
